Theodore D. Tully, Sr., of Scarsdale died peacefully Thursday, January 28, 2010 in Waterview Hills Nursing Center after a long illness. He was 88. Mr. Tully was born July 2, 1921, in New Rochelle, to Lawrence and Catherine Tully. He was a longtime resident of Bronxville and Eastchester. He and his family are tremendously proud of his service to his country during WWII, receiving the Bronze Star Medal while in the 85th MP PLT defending the African Campaign and Kassarian Pass during the European African Middle East conflict. Ted’s major career was a brick salesman working with Hanley Manufacturing, NYC, selling brick to many state offices, schools, and prisons that stand today. Mr. Tully’s second career was driving for Brettle Limosine, Bronxville. For 19 years Mr. Tully was passionate about being actively involved in the Patrol Company as an Eastchester Volunteer fireman, holding office as Captain and President of VOA. “Teddy” was instrumental in clam bakes/picnics at Labriola Field! But more passionate was his love for his children and devoted time as a Webelos leader in the Cub Scouts, a team manager in Henry S. Richards Sports Club, and the “all-time station wagon driver” for the Girl Scouts! We will dearly miss his love of fishing, and fox trot dancing. Mr. Tully’s greatest pleasure in life was his family. In 1954 Mr. Tully was married to Frances A. Mitchell who passed away October 29, 1996. He was a devoted brother to Diana Bronner, formerly from Scarsdale, and Lawrence, Jr., from Hawaii, who passed away.
Mr. Tully cherished his very special companion Pam McKay who passed away December 13, 2009. He was a loving father to Lorraine, Theodore, Jr., Peter, Frances, Mary Casti and Cathy Levenson, and a caring grandfather “Poppy” to Ryan, Shawn, Brian, Patrick, Daniel, Carolyn Slizowski, Catherine Maestri, Caitlyn Casti, Drew and Danielle Levenson. Mr. Tully loved his very special friends Anthony “Barrels” and Louise Barella and his wonderful neighbors Gerry and Margaret Mignone. We will miss his love and devotion. Visiting hours are Sunday 2 – 6 p.m. at McGrath & Son Funeral Home, Bronxville. Funeral mass will be Monday 10 a.m. at Church of Saint Joseph, Bronxville. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Lung Association.
