
Hines, Mary, J.. Mary Hines, a long time resident of Mount Vernon died at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville on March 28, 2010. For years prior to her death, Mary had suffered from the effects of two strokes, the second of which in 2005 completely destroyed her quality of life. Mary was born and raised in Wisconsin. After graduating from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin she came to New York, where she earned a Masters Degree at the Juilliard School of Music. Mary had a beautiful coloratura voice. She was the featured soloist at a number of Churches in New York and Westchester. For a time she taught voice to music students at Concordia College in Bronxville. She also taught private students at her home. Mary leaves behind Jack, her devoted husband of over fifty years and John, her loving son and only child. Friends may say goodbye to Mary between 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday. A funeral service will be held on March 31, 2010 at 10 am at the Village Lutheran Church in Bronxville.
